Here's the best shot I was able to get of A World Lit Only By Fire as it was blocking:
I like how the colors kind of "blocked" together; in the picture of the one in the book they were more stripey. I think I prefer the way they went together in my scarf.
I also worked a bit on the Hiawatha shawl last night (I think I figured out why I didn't work on it either time when I was on vacation: you cannot talk and knit on this at the same time, there's too much counting and checking involved. I need to be alone and quiet to work on this). I've finished the sixth repeat of the side panel. I still don't know if I'll stop after 7 - as I said initially I would - or go to the full 10. Or stop somewhere between. I'm beginning to think that 7 repeats will make it look a little malproportioned, that it needs more repeats to look right. But I'm not looking forward to trying to block this baby - if I do it the full size, it's 110" long, and the pattern recommends building a lath frame and lashing the shawl to it in order to block it. And that seems like way too much effort to me - I'm barely patient enough to thread the blocking wires through the edges of things as it is. Too bad I don't live in a big diverse city where there are people one can pay to do finishing...'cos I'd pay someone to block this thing for me when it's done.

I'd love to meet! Friday may be better than Saturday, as there seem to be loose ends (like decorating the church before Saturday evening) to deal with.
Either Sherman or McKinney is fine with me. We're staying in Sherman, but I can find my way to McKinney, and you said it's better for looking, right?
My only current obligations Friday are meeting with the cake baker before 10 and family dinner in the evening, so pick a time and place, and I'll be there (perhaps with Ken unless he's off with my Dad)!
This will be fun!
