de gustibus non est disputandum.
Someone wrote into the Knitlist complaining about the new IK. She said that the photos were out-of-focus (okay, I'll give her that on some of them) and that the projects were "drab."
Well, one woman's "drab" is another woman's "wearable." I guess. At least they're not showing sweaters with "artfully-placed" holes (sorry, I'm STILL not over that Knitter's sweater of several years ago.)
I just hope my LIKING the sweaters doesn't mean I'M "drab."
And in other news:
I have learned the outer limit of my tolerance for heat. It is two weeks. I hit "the wall" yesterday afternoon, walking out of the Wal-Mart with my bag full of food for people other than myself* it just hit me, and I was exhausted. Luckily I had a close-in parking place or I WOULD have sat down on the pavement. I really really want it to rain. And it's not cool, I think, that the weather-chix on tv act all happy that we're not getting rain, 'cos, girls, even YOU should know that no rain now means even more misery (watering restrictions, grass fires) later on in the summer.
And we've got that "Dome of High Pressure" in place, which means every stink, every airborne pollutant, every bit of ground-level ozone is trapped here and does not move. The town does literally stink right now. I can't breathe normally. I've been coughing and my throat has that feeling that I get when I'm somewhere where they're using harsh chemicals.
I also have a dentist's appointment this afternoon. Just a checkup and cleaning, but still it means hands and metal instruments stuck in my mouth, and that doesn't make me happy.
(*S'cool, really - a good friend of mine is in the hospital and I promised his daughter that once he gets out [sometime this week] I'd fix a casserole and some veggies and stuff and take them over to his place. And I need to bake sugar cookies for a Fourth of July thingy.)
