Here's the sock that I'm calling A Series of Unfortunate Color Combinations:

I don't know. I'm STILL hoping it will resolve itself. I guess I just find the olive green and bright blue jarring together.

I also started yet another new project. This is my new take-along project. I bought a copy of the "Knit Scarves!" book (it was cheap, used, from Powell's). Most of the projects are pretty simple and I probably could have come up with them on my own, but the book does provide some inspiration. There's a drop-stitch scarf in there, and one of the alternative yarns they show it in is a rainbowy mohair.

Well, I had some of that Lion Brand new mohair stuff in the color called "Rainbow Falls" in my stash:

It's my new take-along project for a couple of reasons. First, it's simple. I don't need to cart along a measuring tape (like I do with socks) or even a row counter, because it's easy enough to tell what row you're on. The main reason, though, is that it's pretty, and I like it when people comment on what I'm knitting on. I could take my socks as take-along projects, but I find that I grow weary of explaining the why of handknit socks to people who don't knit. You don't have to explain the why of knitting a decorative scarf.
