The Divine Miss Em informs us that JCPenney's is now using Nena's "99 Red Balloons" to promote its valentine's day sale. (Well, the first stanza at least.)
'Member that song? Remember listening to it in high school, and thinking how dark and deep it was, and how it would be just like some of the generals out there to get freaked over some toys and blow up the whole world as a result?
Heh. An end-of-the-world song used to promote Valentine's Day. As a Bitter Single Girl, I can totally appreciate the irony in that, although I suspect it was more cluelessness than subversiveness on the part of the advertising-person who suggested that song.
(Of course, if there's a followup ad using "Love Hurts" as the theme, I will be willing to admit that perhaps some of the ad agency guys are trying to do something subversive).
And in other news:
You Are A Realist |
You are more romantic than 0% of the population. When it comes to romance, you tend to take a realistic approach. You believe that love takes time, and it's something you have to work hard for. A bit cynical, over the top romance tends to get under your skin. Your heart is difficult to win ... but it's totally worth it. |
Yeah, that's about it. Except I take issue with the fact that the quiz didn't have "never" as a choice for the question about how many times you believe you'll find your true love.
