Several things:
1. I finished the first pattern-repeat of the Side Section of the Hiawatha Shawl last night. Now I am going to have to think: the finished shawl is 110", which is really probably too large for me. One of the choices the pattern author gave is to cut out one or more of the lace-patterns; I did not like that choice because I liked the variation of all the patterns and all the things they represent. The other choice she gave to shorten the shawl is to do fewer repeats of the side-panel lace. The pattern calls for 10. I'm thinking, maybe, stop at 7. Which will serve a couple purposes - make the shawl manageably shorter, make it go faster, and cut down on the "maaaaaaan, I've done this before so many times" part of the knitting.
2. Started yet another pair of simplepatterning socks, out of Regia Patch Antik, in a brown blend. For when I'm too tired to think about the shawl or turning rows of cables on the other socks.
3. This is going to be one of those weeks, I can tell. Yesterday afternoon, received a piece of information about two people I know - well, I can't go into much detail but it's one of those mindboggling things where you want to shake the people involved and say "In what ALTERNATE bizarro-world UNIVERSE did this SEEM like a GOOD IDEA to you?" Also, my youth co-leader called late last night - she just got home from her uncle's funeral in Kansas, and now her mother-in-law is close to death. So I may be flying solo for youth group tonight, or I may not have more than half of the group (kids who depend on her for transportation, plus her own grandkids). Also, we have a candidate coming in the end of this week for a position at work. And Saturday is Honors Day, where I get to interview terrified 18-year-olds and try to determine if they have the stuff to enter the honors program here. I also have had two people call me already this morning to tell me they are sick with either respiratory or intestinal flu viruses and will not be in to class. (And I can count on more being out; I generally get notification about 20% of the time when people are sick.)
4. How thankful am I that I got the (respiratory) flu shot two weeks ago (and so, now have immunity)? You have NO IDEA.
5. I'm able to eat again. Huzzah! Tomorrow I should be able to go back to at least part of my normal workout.
