Remember a couple days ago when I was talking about feeing "blah" and generally down? I attributed it to a combination of The Holiday That Must Not Be Named, my upcoming birthday, and the fact that it's been grey, drippy, and cloudy for 10 out of 11 days here.

Turns out, in fact, it was physiological and not psychological. I am actually-factually sick. Well, as sick as I ever get, which fortunately is usually not very sick. I think it's the 24 hour stomach thing that's been taking students down with alarming speed here on campus. (One of my students had it earlier in the week but was back for the exam Friday. I assume I got it from him).

It hit me as I was in the grocery today - ran down to Sherman to pick up my finished quilt (which looks gooooooooood), get a birthday present for a friend's to-be-1 year old, and do the general stocking-up of Things That Cannot Be Obtained Locally.

Fortunately, the grocery was my last stop. I had contemplated going out for lunch but had no appetite (that should have been a tip-off). I also had a lot of muscle aches, particularly lower-back, but I shrugged that off as having sat in a bad position last night while knitting.

But then I got cold. And nauseated. And light-headed. I finished shopping and drove very carefully home. (It was hard to pay attention to driving at that point.)

I have not (knock wood) actually thrown up, but my stomach is very irritated and I don't want to eat. Took my temperature and at one point it was 100.2.

I'm going to wait and check it again tomorrow morning. I hope it's better. I'm scheduled to help deliver Communion to homebound people and I don't want to poop out on my duty, but I also don't want to risk passing something icky to someone who might be in a weakened state.

I feel some better now, after an afternoon of dozing through "Nova" re-runs on PBS and knitting on the second Feather and Fan sock.

I really hope that you're feeling better soon.

I saw the Red Balloons ad and agree that it's awful. They missed the whole point of the song and the new version is horrible.
