Well, I just sold some books I can't use to a used book dealer. I made what I consider to be a somewhat obscene amount of money for no effort on my part.
the two things that assuage my guilt a little bit are:
1. These books go into the used-book market, so students have a shot at cheaper textbooks (but surely not cheaper than the resold-by-students books at the bookstores, I think).
2. I have a friend who's in serious financial difficulty right now, this makes it easily possible for me to help her out again.
It's funny - maybe it's just me but I find the more generous I am, the more it comes back to me. When I give money away, then the next week something comes up that brings me that money back or more. It's weird, but I'm not gonna question it too much, I'm just gonna keep helping out where I can and figuring that maybe there is something like karma out there.
