horns of a dilemma*

This upcoming weekend is my last open weekend before graduation. Literally. Every other Saturday from now until May 16 I have something I have to do either all day, or from 8 to 1.

So here's my dilemma: do I take the wonderful empty Saturday and sew and knit and quilt and enjoy, or do I come in here and rewrite a (rejected) journal article that's been sitting in my "you need to do this sometime" pile since December.

(Can't do it this afternoon. Typing an ecology exam for next week, plus catching up on all my grading. AND I have to find time to drive the hour's round trip to the stupid Dillard's in stupid Sherman because stupid me didn't look at the stupid color on the stupid Clinique pressed powder and just assumed that the stupid sales clerk who was in a personal conversation on her stupid cell phone with her stupid boyfriend, handed me the right thing when I asked for "Matte Bisque". Oh, no, she handed me "Matte Neutral" which is NOT the same thing, and on a person as pale as I am looks very very wrong. It is a subtle difference but it makes me look as if I have tentatively applied a bit of fake-tan cream to my face but got spooked and washed it off before it had a chance to do much).

so the choice is being productive and feeling resentful that my life is a long parade of nothing but work, or staying home and feeling guilty.

I suppose I'll do the half-day not-very-effective work thing in the end. And if I can get my trip to stupid old Sherman out of the way this evening, I'll be in a better mood to work tomorrow morning.

*dang, I wasn't even a fan of the show, but my dad and my brother used to watch "Married, with Children," and now when I say that I think of Christina Applegate saying "I'm on the horns of an enema."
