score one for the good guys.
I know I don't do much political/social commentary on this blog, but I did have to remark on this: it would just be so wrong, so very wrong, to take "Ring of Fire" and make it forever associated with a remedy for piles.
Perhaps this is the beginning of the end of corruption of songs we know and love by advertisers? Perhaps they will have to go back to writing their own jingles, or at the very least, use songs that few would have any love for (for example: Quizno's disturbing new series of advertisements and we like th' moon (warning: that song may cause eardrums to bleed or sensitive people to run screaming from the room).
All I can say is, when I first heard about the "Ring of Fire" thing, I thought "this is a joke, right? This is like something a SNL caricature of a taste-free advertising writer would think is a good idea?"
but then again, in a climate that can bring us things like "The Littlest Groom" (I'm just waiting to see if they do "The World's Fattest Bride" next), I guess I can't ever assume anything is so tasteless it has to be a joke.
In knitting news, I've done the first repeat on the Chinese vest. The alpaca yarn isn't as crisp as the recommended yarn but the stitch definition still seems to be okay.
