I've decided that I like the Inca Alpaca for the Chinese Vest, so I'm going to keep going on it (I had plans to knit for about 6", and then rip it out if the stitch definition was poor or the resulting fabric felt flimsy). It makes a soft drapey fabric, perhaps not quite what the pattern was set for, but it looks nice enough and might even be dressier than what the pattern was originally developed for. And the stitch definition is decent - not as crisp as I'd like, but at least you can *see* it.
And tomorrow, I leave for the meetings of doom. Or, as I've decided to think of it now, Taking One for the Team.
I'm trying not to feel like "all the good stuff happens while I'm gone" - Thursday noon the ceramics club is having a "buy the soup, keep the bowl" deal where you can get a bowl made by a ceramics club member (and I missed that last term too! grr!). And Friday is an Indian Taco fundraiser. (Indian Tacos, for the uninitiated, are either chili or spicy beans with lettuce, tomato, and cheese, served on frybread, which, although not the healthiest food for your body, is definitely good for your soul). So I will be dining on rubber chicken or "here are the cold cuts - make your own sandwiches!" while the lucky folks who are still on campus get homemade soup and Indian tacos.
Sigh.
