Okay, a question for those who have five or ten years on me (I was born in 1969, so my prime fashion-conscious years started about the time those white blazers with the pushed up sleeves came into vogue):

In the 1970s, did people really think accessories like these were a good idea? Did they wear them?

I mean, I have a copy of "Wild Knitting," but somehow I can't quite imagine wearing a martini-tie or an armadillo shawl (no matter how much I may love the way it looks) to anything other than a costume party.
