I have decided once again (see my resolutions for 2003) to try to work for at least 10 minutes per day on the quilt that is in the frame. That will serve two purposes: first, the quilt will get done faster, and second, I will again build up a "quilter's callus" so that it doesn't hurt to quilt for a long period of time.
I worked for about 45 minutes on the quilt last night, almost finishing one of the large squares.
Then, I switched to knitting on the "Happy Stripe" socks. I am now about 5" into the foot of the second sock, which means they will be done shortly. I'm actually a bit disappointed in this yarn - the single-row striping isn't as pretty as I thought it would be (perhaps it's just the turquiose and yellow color combination; it's very contrast-y) and it really gets messed up when you do a conventional turned heel with gussets (I don't like the short-row heel; short-rowed socks wind up "creeping" down my foot). Ah well. Everything is a learning experience.
I am wearing the zip-fronted Mondial Fur vest (pattern in winter '00 Vogue Knits) for the first time today. It is surprisingly warm over a turtleneck - the Fur is part wool, and I would guess that's why. I had to open my office window to be able to stand it. (yeah, I could take off the vest, but I'd rather open the window).
