Finished the "Happy Stripe" socks yesterday. I used a French heel turn and a round toe on these.
I also gave in to my desire to start something new, and dug out the KFI Cashmerino I bought last fall and (finally) started June Oshiro's "DNA helix scarf" that was in the fall '03 Interweave Knits. (link is to the diagrammatic form of the cable. There is a pattern for a scarf like the one in the magazines here
I have to say, the Cashmerino is *fabulous* for cable patterns. I'm not very far into the helix-cable yet, but what I have done just pops right out from the background - it shows up super-well. (I don't even know if Cashmerino is still available; this I bought last fall as a closeout from Carodan Farm. I am using a greyish blue-green color, color number 05, for my scarf.
Considering the disappointing (well, to me at least) results that some of the editors of IK got for their scarves [e.g., because they used a fuzzy yarn and the cables did not show up hardly at all], I am ecstatic with my efforts thus far.
