I finished the Regia Norwegier (red and black) socks last night. I am still considering whether I need to get a "dye magnet" or if rinsing them with vinegar will suffice to reduce any bleeding of the red part on to the white part.
There's chatter on the knitlist about some home based business where two women knit scarves - apparently, simple-stitch novelty-yarn scarves - and sell them for $300 to $400 each. A lot of people are upset that that much money is being spent on a scarf and not going to charity or whatnot.
*sigh*. That's all, just *sigh*. Sure, some people spend their money differently than I would choose to (I don't pay $400 for a winter coat, let alone a scarf). And sure, there's a lot of need in the world. But if the women who run this business have willing customers who will pay that much, more power to them. If I lived in an area where I could get away with doing that, I know I'd be tempted to lay in a supply of Fizz and Eros and whatever else and knit away while I read.
Once again, it's judging people for trivial choices. And it frustrates me. Spending $400 on a scarf is not the same as beating your dog or starving your children. It's not even the same as making change out of the collection plate at church.
gah.
