Worked on sundry things last night in between trick-or-treaters (the chocolate peanut-butter balls that were wrapped in foil to look like eyeballs were a HUGE hit; even a couple of fairly girlishly dressed girls - fairy princesses and the like - exclaimed "candy eyeballs! Cool!" when I dropped them in their bags.)
I finally sewed up the Bernat Boa hat. I may do the scarf this weekend and then put them aside as a "random gift for a woman" because they are a looks-good-on-all color (blue) and they are one size fits all.
I also worked more on the Canal du Midi socks; there is something satisfying about having mastered the basics of twisted stitches.
This morning, while at the store I alternately call Hell-Mart, Vile-mart, Wally-world - you know what I mean - I did buy myself a "fluster" for the couple pieces of drama I've been having to go through (again, I don't feel like reporting it here, one of them is fairly trivial but pushes some buttons of mine and the other one is quite large and potentially scary but may turn out to be nothing). I saw that they had VHS tapes of several of Miyazake's films.
I am not a big video buyer. I think that the fact that I was well into high school before my parents bought a VCR influences that - videos are not something I particularly think of. Couple that with the fact that for most movies, it's sufficient for me to see them once, or I am happy to wait until they are shown on television again.
But they had "Kiki's Delivery Service," which is one of my favorite movies, one of those movies I can fall into like re-reading a favorite book. And it was less than $15. So I bought it.
(It had a $2 off coupon for another of Miyazake's movies. I might buy "Spirited Away", even though I didn't love it as deeply as I loved "Kiki's Delivery Service").
Yes, they are cartoons, why do you ask?
Actually, most of the videos I own are "kids' movies". They just tend to be the ones I want to see multiple times...
