Chill and damp this morning; call me perverse but it's just the kind of fall weather I enjoy.
I am happy to bid farewell to the 80-degree-plus, bright-sun, dry-as-a-bone summer hang-over.
I got up through the armhole decreases on the Fur vest last night. I must say, this is not a very...challenging...pattern. I found myself knitting a few rows, putting it down, picking up a magazine or a catalog, reading for a bit, and then picking the vest up again. Still, I'm going to try to push on and hope I have all the bits knit by Thanksgiving, because I want to ask my mom (a better seamstress than I am) about what she thinks is the best way to insert the zipper so it won't always be catching the fur bits in its teeth. I'm thinking of sewing grosgrain ribbon (and I bought some - black, because the "binder thread" on the yarn is, and I had to buy a black zipper because there wasn't one that matched the yarn itself) down the fronts and attaching the zipper to it - so there's a little placket or whatever you call it. Also, the grosgrain should help to stabilize what is frankly kind of a flimsy fabric.
I think my next sweater is going to be something with cables. I'm getting heartily sick of all-reverse-stockinette.
