Okay, I'm a little happier.

One of my students is proposing to do a research project involving roadkill (it's not as gross or as goofy as it sounds, it's actually a really interesting project idea). One day, when she was talking about it before class, I just commented that there was a book out there called "Flattened Fauna" that I had heard about that was like a field (road?) guide to roadkill.

she looked it up and cited it in her paper (which is one of the two best proposals I've read so far).

It's really nice when an odd, throw-away bit of information you offer is actually used.
