I sense a great disturbance in the Force....

I heard this morning that Mr. Rogers had died. It's sad - I feel more sad when I hear of one of the "childhood celebrities" dying that I do when some rock star burns himself out on drugs or something. But one thing that can be said - Mr. Rogers left the world a nicer place, which is high praise for anyone.

Other knitters will surely remark that most (if not all) of the cardigans he wore on his show were knitted by his mother.

He was also an ordained Presbyterian minister. And he thought that Murphy's "Mr. Robinson's Neighborhood" (on SNL) was "funny and affectionate" according to the obit.

a sad thing to happen on my birthday.

I'm back at school today - classes are scheduled to start at 9:30, which means my only class today is my 11 o'clock.

I swatched a bunch of different eyelet and lace patterns on the Hawaii LL last night and could not find one that looked good. I think because this is such a strongly-colored yarn, it has to be done in something really simple. So I'm knitting the socks in a k3,p2 rib and am going to continue the rib onto the instep.
