The Friday Five

and this week, it's the kind of thing that's hard for me:

1. If you could only choose 1 cd to ever listen to again, what would it be?

Oooh...I don't know. I'd probably have to say a compilation CD that I'd make up myself. It would have a little bit of Bach (a few of the shorter pieces and a piece or two from Well-Tempered Clavier), a little bit of Dvorak (the five Bagatelles), a couple Charles Trenet songs, "Clair de Lune" and another piece or two.

I like variety too well to be able to choose just one CD. If I could only choose one composer, it would have to be J.S. Bach, partly because I love so many of the things he wrote, but also partly because he wrote such a variety.

2. If you could only choose 2 movies to watch ever again, what would they be?

Hmmm....Mon Oncle with Jacques Tati and A Christmas Story (the one with the Red Ryder bb gun)

3. If you could only choose 3 books to read ever again, what would they be?

Auuuugh...this is the hardest one.

Okay:
"The Hobbit"
"The Art of Eating" (essays by M.F.K. Fisher)
and a big big book of compiled poetry. Like, maybe "The Top 500 Poems"

4. If you could only choose 4 things to eat or drink ever again, what would they be?

Freshly-baked bread
Spinach salad
Cold milk
Pizza

5. If you could only choose 5 people to ever be/talk/associate/whatever with ever again, who would they be?

Oh, wow...

My mom
My dad
My brother
My sister-in-law
My Uncle Bill

(they capture enough of the realm of interesting conversation, plus (and oh gosh I hope my other relatives aren't reading this) they are my favorite relatives...)

I'm trying to decide on a "next large project". I have the kit for Mags Kandis' Kitt jacket (out of East + West), and I'm itching to start that, but it calls for a 6.5 and a 7.0 mm needle...which I think it 10 1/2 and 11 US, and I'm not sure I have those.

and of course, no LYS. And the Hobby Lobby only has the Susan Bates circulars (I prefer circulars for every project) that have the ugly and uncomfortable angle in the needle-to-cable join.

I don't think there's a tremendous lot of sense in mail-ordering them right now; my parents are coming to visit next week and it's possible we may be going somewhere (either Greenville, or if I can talk my dad into it, Plano) where there's a real yarn shop and I could buy them there.

But I'm going to look again when I get home. I really want to start this sweater, it's calling to me right now.
