The Friday Five

1. What is your favorite scary movie?

You know, I really haven't watched many scary movies. Does "Stand by Me" count as a scary movie? (After all, Steven King wrote it...). I don't like gory movies.

I guess I could say I like Hitchcock films - I prefer the more psychological movies to the blood-fests.

2. What is your favorite Halloween treat?

Chocolate covered marshmallow pumpkins.

3. Do you dress up for Halloween? If so, describe your best Halloween costume.

I did when I was a kid. I think the best one was the year I went as Opus, the penguin from Bloom County. I wore a tuxedo I bought at a charity sale (Okay, so the body shape was wrong but the coloring was correct) and I covered a baseball cap with black fabric and sewed on big white eyes. And I build up a pink felt nose on the brim of the cap. I also made pink felt shoecovers.

It was pretty much a hit at my high school.

4. Do you enjoy going to haunted houses or other spooky events?

No, I really don't. I don't like being surprised; I have a very strong startle reflex and I am easily upset. I like ghost stories though. I just don't like things jumping out at me.

5. Will you dress up for Halloween this year?

Sort of. I'm planning on wearing a long black dress and I'm trying to work up the courage to wear the fake fox stole I knitted (not the Vegan Fox; this was a pattern from some years back) with it to class.

In the past, I've worn a pumpkin hat I knitted for myself. That got a lot of interesting reactions.
