I finished the front to the Sand sweater last night. It's a hair longer than the back (d'oh), thanks to all the decreases I had to do for the neckline.
I cast on for the sleeves. I am going to do both sleeves at once because they are identical to one another. I'm knitting the sweater on a circular needle (I use circ's for almost every big project now, regardless of whether it's knit in the round or, like this sweater, back and forth). I have 6 rows done - the first increase in place. They are going to be kind of a pain because you increase every 6th row but have to incorporate the increases in the lace pattern. So I'm going to have to think about it as I work.
I also cast on this morning for a rollbrimmed hat (pattern here) out of Katia Folk (It's called an "Ecologic" yarn or something like that - I don't know if that means its from recycled fibers or if it's just because it's all natural fiber. It's a blend of cotton, wool, and silk.).
This is going to sound strange, but I cast on for the hat because I dreamed about making it last night. I don't often have knitting dreams.
Beside, I have to take my car in for service later today and it will give me something easy to work on while I wait.
No fieldwork today - we had massive downpours yesterday and last night and the area is probably soaked.
This afternoon, after I get my grading done and my car taken care of, I start cleaning house. A week from tomorrow I leave for a couple weeks' vacation, and I want the house to be very clean before I go. Especially crumbwise, so I don't come back to a house full of ants.
