Yesterday was a good day. Even though I hate the traffic even as far north of Dallas as McKinney. Even though the parking in McKinney is awful (finally went to one of the municipal lots and walked the several blocks from it to the downtown). Even though almost NONE of the shops offers a public restroom (hello? You want people to drive in from far away and shop? Having a toilet and sink available isn't that hard).

I got a grilled cheese sandwich and a really, really good chocolate soda from a little soda fountain place.
I found another "souvenir plate" (from Idaho) to put up with the collection on my bathroom wall. I found a few old books. I went to a nice gourmet shop and bought a set of tongs, another bar of Thymes "olive leaf" soap. I bought a fabulous-smelling lavender sachet.

I also went to the Quilt Asylum and bought a few things (I would have bought more if I had known at the time that the Carriage House Quilt Shop in Van Alystyne had moved to Plano. Grr. )

One thing I bought is pictured here. I got it in both black background and white blackground. My plan is to do a very simple quilt with this as the central square in those simple blocks where you have a square surrounded by four broad-based triangles (I don't know what it's called). I plan to use bright red, blue, and yellow fabrics for the triangles, and alternate the black and white backgrounds.

I bought a yard of each. I think that might be enough for a full-sized quilt. If not, I'm going to do it as a twin-sized and use it to wrap up in when I read.

I'm getting excited about quilting again. The quilt that I have in the frame right now (Spools in reproduction Depression-era pastels) is almost done.

Like I said before, I always get more excited about a project when it's close to completion.
