Gave into small-project startitis last night and began the "foot warmer" socks from the Artful Yarns "Circus". (I still don't believe that a bulky weight with 93 yards per skein can have enough in a single skein to get a pair of socks...so I want to knit these up while I'm sure the yarn is still available in case I have to buy more).
Spent a lot of time yesterday working on research papers. Have a first draft essentially written (and almost typed) for a paper for the proceedings of the 18th North American Prairie Conference (I'll be there presenting a paper on a comparision of cemetery prairies and unmanaged railroad rights-of-way in Illinois). Did see a big "hole" in my results after I got the thing written - some additional analyses I could do that would make the paper stronger. So I'm going to do that once I type up the manuscript I have now.
I can't write at the computer. I have to write things out longhand, preferably on a ruled legal pad, sitting at a cleared table, sitting in a good straight-backed wooden chair. And if there's sunlight coming in the window, all the better.
I find I'm working more effectively at home than in my office. And if I need a cup of tea, it's easier to get.
