This week's Friday Five
(Were these chosen because TV-turn-off week is next week?)

1. What's your favorite TV show and why?

The Simpsons are one - I love the irreverent humor and all the pop-culture references. And I laugh like a monkey when Homer says "D'Oh!". I also love the A&E Nero Wolfe series because it is so true to the novels, and the dialog is so intelligent, and the sets and costumes and all are so wonderful.

I also watch a lot of stuff on HGTV and Food Network. And I watch "Providence" and some cartoons. But I think Simpsons and Nero Wolfe tie for favorite show.

2. Who is your favorite television star? Oh, goodness, I don't know. I wish I looked like Melina Kanikarides. I enjoy watching Alton Brown mug at the camera.

3. What was your favorite TV show as a child? The Muppet Show. It would still be my favorite were it still on the air.

4. What show do you think should have been cancelled by now? Jerry Springer. And those "reality game shows" where they torture the contestants.

5. What new show do you hope escapes the axe this season? I don't know - I don't really follow any of the new shows. Watched "Greg the Bunny" a couple times, it's funny in a very sophomoric way.
