Oh, goodness. Is the socknitting list about to implode again?
In other worlds: Not many people may be reading my blog, but the spam-bots sure have found my e-mail address. So I'm making a little change to the mail-me link, it'll be obvious what to do, I think, when you click on it (hint: remove the capital letters).
No real progress to report. Spent last night catching up on "home" e-mail (and deleting tons of spam).
Some reasons why I knit (there are many more than just these):
1. It is a skill not everyone has
2. It makes my free time "visible" - I have something to show for my leisure hours
3. I need to use different parts of my brain and knitting does that
4. Counting or doing the repetitive motions of a stitch seem to occupy the part of my brain that otherwise spends its time worrying (yes, Clara, knitting IS better than Prozac.)
5. It fulfills my need for color
6. It fulfills my need for tactile feely things (I don't have a pet; right now, I work too-long hours to be fair to a cat or dog)
7. I can make gifts unlike any that can be bought in stores (and looking at the "value of sock labor" threads on Socknitters, I guess my knit gifts are really far more "expensive" than any I could afford to buy!)
8. Even if I screw everything else up in a day, I still have those perfect rows to look at.
