For once, a Saturday morning where I don't have to run off anywhere....
A couple of links for you:
First, I want to re-mention Sacred Space, since Lent is coming up soon (my birthday always seems to fall in Lent...). This is a really wonderful site - a short daily prayer (and Scripture reading) you can do right at your computer. It's very beautifully designed and restful to look at. One of my favorite sites.
Another interesting site is Contemplator, which is all about British Isles, Irish, and some early U.S. folk music. It's really interesting - there are words for many of the songs (I was able to find the words for "Sheik Abul-bul Amir", a song that you occassionally hear snatches of in old cartoons and which Data sang a bit from in one episode of TNG). There are also midi files with the tunes of the song. Midi files aren't my favorite - they always sound sort of "tinny" to me - but it's a good way to know what the basic melody of the song it.
Then there's an online journal I like to read: The Daily Epiphany. It's written by a man in Dallas who works as an industrial chemist (but who wants to be a writer). He has lots of interesting insights. He has two young sons that he writes about often. It's a nice slice of family life, at least for someone who is far from family.
