Bleagh. It's a mix of a very cold rain and snow here. This morning, I was The Fillyjonk who Did Not Want to Get out of Bed.

Plugged away a bit more on the booties last night. Garter st takes a long time, you know that? I'm on the verge of sinking the idea of doing the scarf out of last November's "Real Simple" (here is a link, but they only have info on the current issue). I thought the scarf was cool - sort of pared-down, all garter-st. One of the suggested color combos was magenta and olive green (sounds weird but looked good to me). Me, being a former prep school student, I picked a sort of mint green and pink. I went with Brown Sheep Nature Spun, a much more reasonably priced yarn than those recommended by the article. (Colors are "pink please" and "arctic moss", visible here

But, like I said, I'm thinking of not starting the project and using the yarn for something else. I'm coming to be tremendously irritated by plain garter st. Or maybe it's the 14" single point needles. I keep hanging up the working yarn on the working needle.

So I don't know. Maybe doing it on a circular needle would cut down on the annoyance factor. And of course, part of the problem with these booties is that the yarn is a sport weight done on 3's and the scarf would be done on, if I remember right, 8's.

From playing with yarn to playing with words:

here is the educational link-of-the-day. It is about haiku, which is to my way of thinking, THE most fun form of poetry to play around with. Here's one I wrote a few years ago:

Trees shaking in wind
Pink blooms fill the morning air
Thousand-petal flood!
