more finished socks

this was the second pair of socks I finished on break. I wouldn't have gotten them done except for the "surprise" day when I had to remake my ticket because the Friday train was going to be so late.

This is a dyer who is no longer dyeing - Night Owl Yarns. And it's too bad, I don't know what base she used but it was a really nice yarn - good twist, didn't split, uniform texture. I have one more skein of hers in different colors.

This one was called "Puffins of Fair Isle"

Dark brown, cream, pale seafoam green, darker lichen green, gold, warn tan....an interesting combination.

I'm glad I had enough yarn to make the second sock match in the sequence of stripes (Starting at the same point - if you have your starting loop at the transition between two colors, it's relatively easy to get them to match perfectly). I weighed the yarn I had left (and the finished first sock) after I finished the first sock to be sure I had enough (I had more than enough). Being able to make socks where the stripe pattern matches pleases me.

I'm really happy with these; they are one of the better looking pairs of socks I've made recently. I do still have to rinse them (it's a good idea to get any sizing or residual dye/mordant out before you wear them). But it'll be a few months before I can wear these; it's been in the 90s and very humid.
